How to choose your Travel Consultant

Important questions to ask

Before booking with a travel agent, it's important to ensure they are legitimate and capable of providing the services you need. Here are some key credentials and questions you should ask:

1. License and Certification

  • Are you licensed? A: YES. In many countries, travel agents need to be licensed to operate legally. For example, in the U.S., travel agents may be registered with the IATA (International Air Transport Association) or have a license from the state or local authority.

  • Are you certified by a professional organization? A: YES.  Certification from organizations like ACTA, TICO, CLIA, IATA can indicate credibility and professionalism.

2. Experience and Specialization

  • How long have you been in business? A: 38 Years. More experience often means they know the ins and outs of the industry and how to handle various travel situations.

3. Affiliations

  • Are you affiliated with any travel networks? A: Yes, Ensemble.  Many reputable agents are part of recognized networks,   which can offer exclusive deals and guarantees.

4. Insurance

  • Do you offer travel insurance? A: Yes, to residents of Alberta and Ontario. Other provinces will get a referral.  Travel insurance can be crucial in the event of trip cancellations, medical emergencies, or other unexpected events. Check whether they recommend or offer travel insurance.

6. Fee Structure

  • How do you charge for your services?

    Airline tickets:

Flights domestic – 40.00 per person

Flights Transborder – 65.00 per person

Flights International – 100.00 per person

    Vacation package: 50.00 per booking

Customized vacation planning: – Fee will vary according to the amount of research required.

  • Understand if the agent charges a flat fee, commissions, or a service fee. Be cautious and wary of agents who rely solely on commissions from suppliers.

7. Travel Protection and Customer Support

  • What happens if I need assistance while I’m traveling? I am here to assist you before, during and after your travel. I work for you, I am your voice.

8. Accurate and Transparent Information

  • Do you provide detailed itineraries and pricing breakdowns? YES. Make sure the agent is clear about costs, taxes, and the details of the itinerary.

Ensuring these aspects will give you confidence in booking your trip and that the travel agent can handle any issues that may arise.
